Hey all!
Had a great time at P-Con!
...this was the first [1st] time I'd ever come to a con to sell books, and you know what? I had a ball! :D
...I had a bunch of great advice from author Sara Martin on how to set up a table for maximum effect. Included a picture here- whadja think?

...so grateful for Kortnee, one of the dedicated organizers, who let me jump on board even though I'd missed a bunch of deadlines doing my thing over the summer as a cordially and well-served guest of Baylor Scott & Whyte Hospital in Irving, TX. Met some very, very neat people, too, including the Manticore Club, a bunch of very cool guys who are fans of author David Weber. They were good enough to invite me to one of their parties later on, in fact [sorry I couldn't make it! My teenage daughter needed a sudden ride from from a thing in Dallas....grrr, RIGHT when the party was on. Next time, guys! I'm local! ]
Some of the guys there gave me good pointers for selling books, too. Stand a lot [some authors are big-time introverts, and stare at their phones the whole time behind their tables], interact with folks, enjoy everyone, too!
Most important: You are not a failure if your don't sell a ton of books. You're a success if you get subscribers to your blog, and get your business cards out to people. [Here's mine....feel free to steal & share, but don't mess TOO much with the face, eh? :) ]

Well, I did both of those, and made some new friends besides. :) I'll also be going [God Willing] to a Steampunk Convention called the SPN Festival in Venus, TX in mid-November. Yay! ["Get yourself a set of brass goggles to put on your hat, though," suggested one member of the Manticores. Aye-Aye, sir! Will do!]
But, I did sell some books; $145 worth! That was offset in part by the fee for the admission/table, but the people at P-Con were a joy to work with, and I'm already looking forward to next year!
Now, I'm getting ready for my first trip back to my hometown in over a decade, during which I'll be meeting with two of my editors. Emerald Productions Incorporated is moving forward, and our fundraiser for our first comic with the amazing Grayson Bowling as our inimitable artist kicks off on September 30th! :D
Take care, all. Let me know if you all got this, and encourage others to like & subscribe and all that.
Take care!
